With the new Varia Mobile App, you get eyes in the back of your head and can receive notifications about one or more cars approaching, and whether they are coming at high speed. Garmin has also enabled the light to work with third-party apps, so it can also be used with "Ride with GPS."
The light can be seen at a 220-degree angle, making it visible from the side as well. The tail light functions as a radar, detecting cars up to 140 meters away, ensuring you are seen. It displays dots that symbolize how close the cars are to catching up with you. The dots are positioned on the far left side and do not interfere with your data fields. Colors are also displayed on the side of your GPS. Green means it's safe, yellow means a car is approaching, and red means a car is approaching at high speed.
