Rear light and camera in the same unit.
The Seemee DV rear light from Magicshine combines high visibility in the rear light with the security of having a rear-facing camera mounted on the bike.
The camera records in 1080P at 30 fps. The lens is a wide angle with a field of view of a full 146 degrees.
The video is saved on the included MicroSD card of 8 GB.
This camera supports up to 128 GB memory cards.
The camera function loops the video, which means that it records continuously and simply deletes the oldest video if it has not been secured by an event.
An event is detected by the built-in accelerometer and saves a 60-second video clip.
The light is mounted with the same type of bracket as many other Magicshine rear lights in the so-called quater turn holder.
The camera can be controlled with the Car_DVR app which can be found on Google Play and the Apple App store. However, the camera can also be controlled without the use of an app.
At the top of the device are two buttons, one controls the camera and the other controls the light.
When the light is off, the battery can be checked by pressing the button and reading the color:
- Green: 21-100% battery
- Red: 11-20% battery
- Flashing red: 1-10% battery
When the battery level is below 10%, the flashing function is switched to save power.
The battery life is between 8-110 hours depending on the choice of light mode and use of the camera.
This battery life is measured in 25 degree heat (under the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard) and may be different when used in colder or warmer temperatures.
When the device is switched on, a ring around the camera lights up. Here, the status of the camera can be read as follows:
- Circulating red light: The camera is recording
- Flashing red light: The camera is not recording
- White flashing light: The camera has detected an error (error on SD card, card not installed or similar)
