As is known from Shimano, the crankset is made of aluminum, and it is hollow inside, to reduce weight as much as possible.

Even though it's hollow, Shimano has still managed to make a rigid crankset, so you get a really good power transfer when you step on the pedals.

The crankset uses a 24mm shaft.

The design of the chainrings has been changed so that they are only mounted directly on the pedal arm, and no longer on a spider.

It provides a more rigid construction and as well it saves on weight.

With Shimano's chainrings, you do not have to think about whether you have a standard or boost frame. It handles all frameworks with one system.

The technology throughout the crankset is similar to that used in the XT. However, the choice of material is different, which makes the crankset heavier and less rigid than the XT crankset.

However, not everyone can feel the difference, precisely because the technology is so well developed.
