Italian Pirelli is probably best known for motorsport, where they have been the preferred supplier of tires for over 100 years. That experience and expertise they now bring into the cycling world with a new series of tires that builds on the experience of their best motorsport tires.
Pirelli Cinturato Velo is Pirelli's bid for the perfect racing winter tire, with a combination of low rolling resistance and weight, high abrasion resistance, good comfort and good grip in most conditions.
SmartNET Silica Compound.
The patented rubber compound from Pirelli is taken directly from their motorsport tires and improved for use in bicycles. The special rubber compound ensures low rolling resistance, high abrasion resistance and good grip both on dry and wet roads.
Functional Groove Design.
Pirelli Cinturato Velo has a tire pattern optimized for use on wet roads via Pirelli's FGD technology. The technology is the same that is used for the development of, for example, motorcycle tires, where road grip is paramount under all conceivable conditions. The tire has a smooth centerline, and pattern down along the shoulders of the tire, which helps to direct the water away effectively. The pattern is therefore contributing to the low rolling resistance and good grip that is characteristic of the Pirelli Cinturato Velo.
Armor Tech
The Armout Tech construction on the tire provides good puncture protection as it is built in other layers and materials which together ensure increased comfort and reliability, even at low tire pressure.
